Affiliate disclosure
Last updated: October 24, 2026 Site: Grow Bench on hydroponicsystem.com
This page explains how Grow Bench may earn money from links on this site and how we handle recommendations. It’s here so you can judge any “shop” mention with full context.
Who we are
Grow Bench publishes practical hydroponics guides: system types, specs, cost bands, crop tips, and failure modes. We’re an independent editorial site. We are not:
- Amazon, or an Amazon-operated storefront
- A manufacturer of the products we describe
- A paid “review lab” claiming test counts we never ran
- A medical, dietary, or cannabis advisory service
Material connections (FTC)
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s endorsement guides require us to disclose material connections with sellers when those connections could affect how you weigh what we say.
Affiliate links are a material connection. If you click an affiliate link on Grow Bench and then buy something, we may earn a commission. It’s paid by the retailer, not added to your price. You can always buy the same item without our links.
We disclose this:
- On this page
- Next to shop buttons and product tables, with a short note that we may earn a commission
- In the footer link on every page
Amazon Associates
Grow Bench is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, Grow Bench earns from qualifying purchases.
What that means for you:
- Some links on Grow Bench go to Amazon.com. If you buy qualifying items after following one, Grow Bench may earn an advertising fee.
- Amazon sets its own attribution and cookie rules and handles checkout. We don’t control prices, stock, or shipping.
- Amazon, Amazon.com, and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. Grow Bench is not Amazon.
What we won’t do:
- Hide that a link is an affiliate link
- Use “#1 ranked” badges or invented “we tested N products” claims to push clicks
- Put shop links on a page without a disclosure next to them
Other affiliate programs
If we add another affiliate network or brand program later, we’ll list it here with the program name and the kinds of links it covers before any of those links appear.
How we choose what to recommend
Grow Bench ranks fit, not trophies:
- Space, budget, crop, noise, maintenance, and failure modes
- Typical US hobby price ranges, labeled as estimates
- Clear “who should skip” guidance
We don’t sell rankings, invent lab tests, promise miracle yields, or make medical claims about hydroponic produce. If we ever run our own side-by-side tests, we’ll say exactly what was tested and measured. Until then, comparisons are editorial category analysis.
Being in an affiliate program can make some retailers easier to link. It never excuses wrong specs or hidden failure modes. If a category is a bad fit, we say skip.
Editorial vs. advertising
Most pages are educational guides. When a page has affiliate links, those links are an advertising relationship even though the page around them is educational. We also link to non-affiliate sources (manufacturer docs, university extension guides). Those don’t earn us anything.
We don’t run display ads, sponsored posts, or gifted-product reviews. If that ever changes, we’ll say so here and on the page involved.
Prices and availability
Cost tables are typical market ranges, not live quotes. Always check the current price and shipping on the seller’s site.
Trademarks
Product, brand, and retailer names belong to their owners. We use them to identify and discuss products. No endorsement or partnership is implied beyond what an affiliate program agreement creates.
Free to use
Every guide is free to read. You never have to click an affiliate link to use a checklist, pH range, or parts list. Buying from a local hydro shop or any other retailer is fine.
